The Southern Ridges is a 9km trail starting from Kent Ridge Park extending all the way to Mount Faber. And on one early Sunday morning, we got up when the skies is still dark and made our way to Alexandra, somewhere far away from where I stayed.
The journey begins at Hort Park where you are greeted by the prominent Alexandra Arch.
While waiting for Shukie, we decided to Shoe-cam.
The beginning of the walk - It was a pretty sunny day.
Forest Walk: An steps-free uphill but easy walk up in zig zag motion
Spotted: Really tall lalangs. Imagine a weed like that can grow to such heights.
You can take a shortcut too but of course you will be whizzing and out of breath even before you reach the top.
The end of the Forest walk and we are on our way to Henderson Waves - the highlight of the walk.
It was pretty high up there, in fact it is the highest pedestrian bridge in Singapore made of timber. Unique hor!
A happy looking Shukie
The 7 waves - unable to capture all on my camera though
I really love being up in this area. Its high yet you feel safe. There is a nice breeze and it is even accessible to the old and the disabled. I shall bring my parents here for their next trip to Singapore.
After the Henderson Waves. there is the Faber Walk which wil lead you up to Mount Faber. There are lots of runners here - all with their tanned, perfect killer bodies running around the area. We also spotted Porches - lots of them parked together. Must be some kind of Singapore Porsches Club or something.
View from the top - Telok Blangah area with lots of HDB flats
We reached the top pf Mount Faber and from there you can either take he cable car from a place called the Jewel box to Sentosa island or walked your way down. This reminds of Genting. ^^
The final part of our walk is Marang Trail; a walk through the secondary forest. There are signs warning us not to take this trail after dark as there are no lights to guide you; s o if you are coming here in the evening, make sure you time it so it doesn't get too dark by the time you reach this area.
Clear yellow markings on each steps so clumsy people like me don't stumble my way down :P
Leaves with all the chlorophyll gone - albino leaves? hehe
